Privacy Policy — Custom Discount Configurator
Last updated: 06/08/2026
This privacy policy describes how Custom Discount Configurator ("the app"), provided by Unlikely, handles data when a merchant installs it on their Shopify store.
What the app stores
Custom Discount Configurator has no server and no database of its own. It runs entirely inside the Shopify admin and communicates directly with Shopify's Admin API from the merchant's browser. The only data it stores is the merchant's own configuration for two discount features, saved as Shopify shop metafields under the unlikely namespace:
unlikely.free_products — the list of free-gift rules a merchant configures: the chosen product's ID, title and handle, the cart-value threshold, and any before/after messages the merchant writes, per store language.
unlikely.cumulative_discounts — the list of quantity-based discount offers a merchant configures: the chosen products, discount tiers (minimum quantity, percentage or fixed amount, tier name), and any per-locale labels the merchant writes.
This data is store configuration authored by the merchant, not customer personal data. It is visible and editable at any time from within the app.
What the app does not collect
Custom Discount Configurator does not read, store, or process any customer personal data — no names, email addresses, phone numbers, or physical addresses. It never queries customer records through the Shopify Admin API or Customer Account API. Its only Shopify access scopes are for products, discounts, and store locales.
How discounts are applied
The free-gift and quantity-tier discounts run as Shopify Functions, executed by Shopify itself at checkout. The app does not see or store individual cart contents, orders, or checkout data — the Function receives only the cart line data it needs to compute the discount, at the moment of checkout, and that data is not persisted by the app.
Sub-processors
Because the app has no server of its own, the only party involved in processing app data is Shopify, which hosts the merchant's store data (including the shop metafields described above) as part of its own platform.
Data retention and deletion
Configuration data persists in the merchant's own shop metafields until the merchant edits or deletes it from within the app, or uninstalls the app. Because no customer personal data is collected, there is no customer data to retain or redact.
Your rights
Since the app does not collect personal data about shoppers, there is no shopper data to access, correct, or delete. Merchants can review, edit, or remove all of the app's configuration data at any time from within the app's admin pages.
